Spiritual Philanthropy – Dover Legacy Scholars Program

Categories: Announcements,Events

Many of you will recall that during the Vision Sunday service we heard a presentation from Jennifer Price, principal of Newton North High School, about our partnership initiative with the school via the Dover Legacy Scholars program. This program is dedicated to academic excellence and achievement of Black and Latino/a students, named in honor of our own career educator Reverend Inez Dover. Our endeavor as a church family is to partner with the program to provide mentorship support to the students as they seek to explore career paths and future academic opportunities. We are seeking volunteers from all professional fields, but below is a list of careers that students have expressed specific interest in.

Engineering (biomedical, chemical, electrical)
Medicine (general practice, pediatrics, nursing, psychiatry, research)
Music (music production, orchestra, music psychology)
Education
Natural Sciences (biology, marine biology)
Computer Science (programming, video game design)
Fine Arts (theater, cinematography, photography, film directing and production, interior design)
Business
Sports management
Law and law enforcement
Architecture
Aviation

All interested persons should contact Deacon Peter Goddard for further information and please be advised that the organizers of this initiative will be in the Agape Room immediately following service on Sunday, May 10 with appropriate forms for participants to complete.

Be blessed!
