LYFE Youth Ministries

(Learning, Yearning, Fellowshipping, Enriching)

LYFE Youth Ministry at Myrtle Baptist Church seeks to respond to the needs of young people, assist in the development of emerging leaders, and promote their healthy development and faith growth by providing a variety of opportunities and experiences to draw youth into active, responsible participation in the life, mission and work of the greater church. LYFE Youth Ministry emphasizes individual and communal growth for holistic spiritual formation. LYFE Youth Ministry seeks to provide a safe space for children and youth to fellowship, ask big questions, worship and enjoy being their authentic selves. Through partnering with families, community organizations, and volunteers LYFE Youth Ministry is able to provide creative, fulfilling and transformational youth activities and programming.

LYFE Liturgical Dance serves children of all ages and allows youth to creatively express their worship to God through Liturgical Dance.

Myrtle Mime Team Ministry Head – Tremaine Wilkerson-Glover

Myrtle Mime through the worship expression of mime, youth are able to creatively express their worship desires to the Myrtle Community.

The Drama of LYFE Ministry Head – Bee Keswa

The imaginative and artistic plays and skits performed by the Drama of LYFE add a unique flavor to the worship experience at Myrtle Baptist Church. Powerful narratives as told by the Drama of LYFE provide transformational messages to the Myrtle Community.

Youthful Praise Children’s Choir Ministry Head – Jonathan Roberts

Youthful Praise offers an essential worship outlet for the children of the Myrtle community. Through inspirational and uplifting songs, the children of Myrtle are able to lead the Myrtle community in an empowering and moving worship experience.

MyrtleNation – Youth & Young Adult Choir Ministry Head – Jonathan Roberts

MyrtleNation is the dynamic youth Choir of Myrtle Baptist Church. The uplifting voices of MyrtleNation that combines Contemporary Christian Music and Gospel Music continually inspires the Myrtle Baptist church community.

LYFE Youth Ministry Committee – comprised of Youth and Adults – is a vital part of the success of LYFE Youth Ministry. LYFE Youth Committee plans the worship and fellowship activities of the youth department. The implementation of curriculum, pedagogical practice and facilitation of all programming is created and prepared by the LYFE Youth Ministry Committee.

Committee Members: Angela Haugabrook, Jamila Hudson, Catherine Howard, Felisha Thomas, Grace Houston-Carr, Deneika Morton, Tremaine Wilkerson Glover and Deacon Liaison Adrian Haugabrook.

Worship Events & Fellowships

FIYA Friday (Fellowshipping in Yahweh’s Atmosphere)
1st Friday of Every Month 7-9PM.
The monthly fellowship for youth 12-18 years of age.

LYFE Children’s Zone
1st Friday of Every Month 7-9PM.
The monthly Fellowship children 5-11 years of age.

Youth Connection
Every 4th Sunday of the Month. (Summer Hours)
Youth Connection is designed to serve youth of all ages. Youth Connection provides an alternative Sunday Morning worship experience for the youth of Myrtle to learn from each other and share their insights and spiritual desires. Through singing, Arts & Crafts, fellowship and lunch youth are able to enjoy one another in a positive worship environment.

Youth Demonstration Sundays
Every 5th Sunday & Selected 2nd Sundays.
The youth of Myrtle lead the Myrtle Community in every aspect of worship. Through Song, Dance, Mime, Plays, Spoken Word Poetry and many other forms of worship the youth of Myrtle lead the Myrtle community in an transformational worship experience.
